The name Ruby quartz refers to the color ruby, but is a spotted quartz mineral with a red-brown, reddish orange to green color due to iron oxide inclusions.

Anyolite is another name for the popular Ruby-in-Zoisite mineral and is an intergrowth of bright green Zoisite, dark green pargasite and purplish red ruby.
